Regional DOC for red wines on the island of Sardinia off the coast of Italy. The zone includes the entire island, with 372 communes in all provinces. The wines are made from the Monica grape (85-100%), as well as optionally from other permitted red varieties. Versions available include Secco (dry, may be called a Superiore if it is matured for one year, and has a higher minimum alcohol content), Amabile as well as a Frizzante version of both these styles.
