DOC (also just Martina for short) for white wine in the wine-growing region of Apulia in Italy. The zone includes the commune of Martina Franca (from which the name is taken, in the province of Taranto), Alberobello (Bari province), as well as Ceglie Messapico, Cisternio and Ostuni (Brindisi province). The wine is yellow-straw with a greenish tinge and has an almond bouquet, it is considered to be one of the best wines in Apulia. It is a blend made from a very old indigenous variety Verdeca (50-65%), as well as from Bianco d´Alessano (35-50%) and optionally from any or all of Bombino Bianco, Fiano and Malvasia Toscana (up to 5%). A Spumante is also made. The wine produced in the neighbouring DOC Locorotondo is very similar.
