DOC for white wines in the wine-growing region of Latium in Italy. The zone has a total vineyard area of around 1.700 hectares, and i spart of the large Castelli Romani region (in the western part). It includes the commune of Marino, from which it takes the name, as well as parts of the commune of Castelgandolfo and of the city of Rome in the Roma province. The famous Via Appia Antica route runs through the region. Documents show wine was made in this region as far back as 1500. The wine is a blend made in any combination of Trebbiano Toscano, Trebbiano Romagnolo, Trebbiano di Soave und Trebbiano Giallo (25-55%), Malvasia Bianca di Candia (up to 60%), Malvasia del Lazio (5-45%), as well as from other permitted white varieties. It is produced in the following variants: Secco, Abboccato, Amabile and Dolce; a Spumante is also produced. If it has a minimum alcohol content of 11,5% vol it may be called a Superiore. The wines are similar to those of the DOC Frascati region.
