DOC (also called Casorzo for short) for sweet red and rosé wines in the wine-growing region of Piemonte in Italy. The zone includes the communes of Altavilla Monferrato, Olivola, Ottiglio and Vignale Monferrato in the province of Alessandria, as well as Casorzo, Grana and Grazzano in the province of Asti. Rosso and Rosato are made from Malvasia Nera di Casorzo (90-100%), as well as optionally with any one or more of Barbera, Freisa, Grignolino and other permitted varieties (up to 10%). A Spumante and a Passito are also produced.
