Apulia

DOC for dry white wine in the wine-growing region of Apulia in Italy. The zone includes the commune of Locorotondo, from which the name is taken, in the province of Bari, as well as the communes of Cisternino and Fasano in the province of Brindisi. The region is famous for the small round stone houses known as “trulli”. The wine has a yellow-straw colour with greenish tinges, and is one of the best in Apulia. It is made from the ancient indigenous variety Verdeca (50-65%), as well as from Bianco d´Alessano (35-50%) and optionally from any one or more of Bombino Bianco, Fiano and Malvasia Toscana (up to 5%). It is also available in a spumante version. The wine in the neighbouring DOC Martina Franca is very similar.
