Lombardy

DOC for perlé red and rosé wines (Frizzantes) in the wine-growing region of Lombardy in Italy. The zone includes parts of the communes of Gazzuolo, Poggio Rusco and Sermide in the province of Mantua. It consists of two sub-zones, Viadanese-Sabbionetano (between the Oglio and Po rivers) and Oltrepò Mantovano. The gerenal minimum alcohol level is 10,5% vol, if the wine contains a minimum of 11% vol it may srare the sub-zone on the label. Rosso and Rosato are made with any one or a combination of Grappello Ruperti = Lambrusco Viadanese, Grappello Maestri = Lambrusco Maestri, Grappello Marani = Lambrusco Marani and Lambrusco Salamino (85-100%), as well as optionally from Lambrusco di Sorbara, Grappello Grasparossa = Lambrusco Grasparossa, Ancellotta and Fortana (up to 15%), secco or amabile versions are available.
