DOC for dry red wines in the wine-growing region of Umbria in Italy. The zone includes the entire commune of Baschi as well as parts of the commune of Orvieto (with the suburb of Corbara, where the dam of the same name is located on the Tiber river) in the province of Terni. Rosso is usually a blend made from any combination of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Nero and Sangiovese (70-100%), as well as optionally with any combination of Aleatico, Barbera, Cabernet Franc, Canaiolo, Cesanese, Ciliegiolo, Colorino, Dolcetto and Montepulciano (up to 30%). Varietal-labelled wines of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Nero must contain a minimum of 85% of the stated variety, the remainder of up to 15% may be made up of other permitted red varietes.
