Liguria

DOC for red, rosé and white wines in the wine-growing region of Liguria in Italy. The zone includes the hills around the city of Genoa including a part of the municipal area of the city itself, as well as a further 35 communes in the province of Genoa. The varietal-labelled wines Bianchetta Genovese, Ciliegiolo, Moscato (also as a Passito) and Vermentino must contain a minimum of 85% of the stated variety, the remaining 15% may be made up of other permitted varieties of the same colour. The Bianco is a blend of Vermentino and Bianchetta Genovese (20-70% of each) and optionally of other permitted white varieties (up to 40%). Rosso and Rosato are blends made from Ciliegiolo and Dolcetto (20-70% of each) and optionally of other permitted red varieties (up to 40%). In addition there is a sweet white Passito made from dried grapes of the permitted white varieties, and a white Spumante (varieties as for Bianco). There are also Frizzante versions of some wines.
