Veneto

DOC for white wine in the Veneto wine-growing region in Italy. The zone includes the commune of Gambellara, from which it takes the name, as well as the communes of Montebello Vicentino, Montorso Vicentino and Zermeghedo in the province of Vicenza. The wine is made in dry (secco) and off-dry (abboccato) versions, from Garganega (minimum of 80%) grapes, as well as optionally from other permitted white varieties (up to 20%). Dried grapes are used to make the Recioto in amabile and dolce (semi-sweet and sweet) versions, a Spumante of this is also made. In addition there is a Vin Santo. Wines sourced from the oldest part of the growing region, subject to more stringent regulations (higher minimum alcohol content) may carry the additional designation Classico.
