Piemont

DOC for red wines in the Piemonte wine-growing region in Italy. The zone has a total vineyard area of around 100 hectares, and includes parts of the communes of Andezeno, Arignano, Baldissero Torinese, Chieri, Marzentino, Mombello di Torino, Montaldo Torinese, Moriondo Torinese, Pavarolo, Pecetto Torinese, Pino Torinese and Riva Presso Chieri in the province of Torino. The varietal wine is made from the Freisa grape, it is produced in Secco and Amabile versions. If it has a minimum alcohol content of 11,5% vol it may be called a Superiore. Frizzante and Spumante versions are also produced.. Freisa d´Asti is a similar wine.
