DOC for dry red wines in the Piemonte wine-growing region in Italy. The zone has a vineyard area of only 22 hectares, and includes the communes of Briona and Fara Novarese in the province of Novara. Wine from this region was known in ancient times. It is a blend made from Chiavennasca = Nebbiolo (30-50%), Vespolina (10-30%) and Bonarda Novarese (up to 40%). The regulations prescribe three years of maturation.
