DOC for white wines in the Piemonte wine-growing region in Italy. The zone includes the commune of Caluso, from which it takes its name, as well as a further 31 communes in the province of Torino, the communes of Roppollo, Viverone and Zimone in the province of Biella, as well as the commune of Moncrivello in the province of Vercelli. The dry wine is a varietal made exclusively from the Erbaluce grape, a Spumante is also produced. Sweet Passito is made from raisined grapes, and is usually a blend of several vintages. It has a minimum alcohol content of 17% vol, and is matured for four years. If matured for five years or more, it may be called a Riserva.
