DOC for red, rosé and white wine in the wine-growing region of Campania in Italy. The zone includes the commune of Amalfi, from which it takes its name, as well as the communes of Atrani, Cetara, Conca dei Marini, Furore, Maiori, Minori, Positano, Praiano, Ravello, Scala, Tramonti and Vietri sul Mare in the province of Salerno. The Bianco is a blend made from Falanghina = Bianca Zita (40-80%), Biancolella = Bianca Tenera (20-60%), as well as optionally from other permitted white varieties (up to 40%). Rosso and Rosato are made from Piedirosso (40-100%), Aglianico and/or Piedirosso (up to 60%), as well as optionally from other permitted red varieties (up to 40%). There are three geographic sub-zones named after their communes - Furore, Ravello and Tramonti – which may add their names to the label if they comply with the stricter rule regarding a minimum alcohol content of 11,5% vol. If matured for two years, the Rosso may be called a Riserva.
