DOC for red and white wines in the Abruzzi wine-growing region in Italy. The zone includes the communes of Ancarono, Colonnella, Controguerra, from which it takes the name, Corropoli and Torano Nuovo in the province of Teramo. The varietal-labelled wines must contain a minimum of 85% of the stated variety, the remainder may be made up of other permitted varieties of the same colour. The varietal wines are Cabernet, Chardonnay, Ciliegiolo, Malvasia, Merlot, Moscato Amabile, Passerina, Pinot Nero and Riesling. The Rosso (also made as a Novello and Riserva) is a blend made from Montepulciano (60-85%), Merlot and/or Cabernet Sauvignon (15-40%), as well as optionally from other permitted red varieties (up to 25%). Bianco and Bianco Frizzante are made from Trebbiano Toscano (60-85%), Passerina (15-40%), as well as from other permitted white varieties (up to 25%). Spumante is made from Trebbiano Toscano (60-85%), with one or more of the varieties Chardonnay and/or Verdicchio and/or Pecorino (30-40%), as well as optionally from other permitted varieties (up to 10%). Passito Bianco is made from dried grapes of Trebbiano Toscano and/or Malvasia and/or Passerina (60-100%), as well as optionally from other permitted white varieties (up to 40%). Passito Rosso is made from dried Montepulciano grapes (60-100%), as well as optionally from other permitted red varieties (up to 40%). If they are matured in small barrels for a minimum of 30 months, both Passitos may also be described on the label as „Annoso”.
