Top wines in Domain Contessa Entellina DOC
DOC for a wide range of red. Rosé and white wines on the island of Sicily off the coast of Italy. The zone includes the town of Contessa Entellina, from which it takes its name, in the province of Palermo. The varietal-labelled wines must contain a minimum of 85% of the stated variety, the remainder may be made up of permitted varieties of the same colour. The varietal wines are Ansonica or Inzolia (also made as Vendemmia Tardiva in Abboccato, Amabile and Dolce styles), Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Grecanico, Merlot, Pinot Nero and Sauvignon. The Bianco is made from Ansonica (50-100%), with optional additions of Catarratto Bianco Lucido, Chardonnay, Grecanico Dorato, Grillo, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Bianco and Sauvignon (up to 50%), as well as from other permitted white varieties (up to 15%). Rosso and Rosato are made from Calabrese = Nero d´Avola and/or Syrah (50-100%), as well as optionally from other permitted red varieties (up to 50%). All red wines (varietals and Rosso) may be called Riserva if they have a minimum alcohol content of 12% vol and have been matured for two years (of which six months in barrels).
