DOC for dry red and white wines in the wine-growing region of Piemonte in Italy. The zone includes 25 communes in the province of Novara. Varietal-labelled Bonarda, Croatina, Nebbiolo (Spanna) and Vespolina wines must contain a minimum of
85% of the stated variety, the remainder may be made up of other permitted red varieties. Rosso and Novello are made from Chiavennasca = Nebbiolo (30-100%), Uva Rara (up to 40%), as well as from Croatina and/or Vespolina (up to 30%). The Bianco is a pure varietal wine made from Erbaluce grapes.
