Emilia Romagna

DOC for a wide range of red and white wines in the Emilia-Romagna wine-growing region in Italy. The zone includes the communes of Borgo Tossignano, Casalfiumanese, Castel San Pietro Terme, Dozza, Imola and Ozzano dell´Emilia in the province of Bologna. The varietal-labelled wines Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pignoletto, Sangiovese (also made as a Riserva) and Trebbiano must contain a minimum of 85% of the stated variety, the balance may be made up of other permitted varieties of the same colour. Rosso and Bianco are usually blends, made from one or more permitted red resp. white varieties. Most wines are made in Secco, Amabile, Abboccato and Secco styles, and are also produced as Frizzantes.
