Umbria

DOC for mostly dry red and white wines in the wine-growing region of Umbria in Italy. The zone includes the communes of Bettona, Bevagna, Cannara, Castel Ritaldi, Collazzone, Deruta, Massa Martana, Monte Castello di Vibio, Montefalco, Spoleto and Todi in the province of Perugia. The varietal-labelled Trebbiano, Grechetto, Grechetto di Todi (the latter from a specifically defined area in the commune of Todi, with a higher minimum alcohol content) and Sangiovese wines (this latter also made as a Riserva) must contain a minimum of 85% of the stated variety, the balance of no more than 15% may be made up of other permitted varieties of the same colour.
