Latium

DOC for red, rosé and white wines in the wine-growing region of Latium in Italy. The zone includes the communes of Latina, Sabaudia, San Felice Circeo and Terracina in the province of Latina. The varietal wines Sangiovese, Sangiovese Rosato and Trebbiano must consist of at least 85% of the stated variety, the balance of 15% may be made up of other permitted varieties of the same colour. The Bianco is made from Trebbiano Toscano (60-100%), Malvasia di Candia (up to 30%), as well as optionally from other permitted white varieties (up to 30%). Rosso (also made as a Novello) and Rosato are made from Merlot (minimum of 85%), as well as optionally from other permitted red varieties (up to 15%). All these variants are produced in Secco and Amabile versions, and Frizzantes are also available.
