Latium

DOC for red. rosé and white wines in the wine-growing region of Latium in Italy. The zone includes parts of the communes of Allumiere, Cerveteri, Civitavecchia, Ladispoli, Rome, Santa Marinella and Tolfa in the Roma province, as well as the commune of Tarquinia in the province of Viterbo. The vineyards stretch out along a hilly area in the Tolfa mountains along the Tyrrhenian coast. The Bianco is a blend of Trebbiano Toscano and/or Trebbiano Giallo (50-100%), Malvasia Bianca di Candia and/or Malvasia del Lazio (up to 35%), as well as optionally of other permitted white varieties (up to 30%). The Rosso (also made as a Novello) and Rosato are made from Sangiovese and/or Montepulciano (60-100%),Cesanese Comune (up to 25%), as well as from other permitted red varieties (up to 30%). All three types of wine are made in Secco and Amabile versions, and are also available as Frizzantes.
