Tuscany

DOC for red, rosé and white wines in the wine-growing region of Tuscany in Italy. The zone includes parts of the four communes of Capalbio, Manciano, Magliano in Toscana province and Orbetello in the province of Grosseto. Varietal wines are made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Vermentino, these must consist of a minimum of 85% of the stated variety, the balance may be made up of permitted varieties of the same colour. The Bianco is often a blend of Trebbiano Toscano (50-100%) and possibly of other permitted white varieties (up to 50%). The same mixture of grapes, but in dried form, is used to produce white Vin Santo. Rosso (also made as a Riserva) and Rosato are made from Sangiovese (50-100%) as well as possibly from other permitted red varieties (maximum 50%).
