Tuscany

DOC for white wine in the wine-growing region of Tuscany in Italy. The zone includes the communes of Capraia e Limite, Cerreto Guidi, Empoli, Fuccechio, Montelupo Fiorentina and Vinci – the birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) – located on both sides of the lower reaches of the Arno river in the province of Firenze. The dry Bianco is a varietal or blend made from Trebbiano Toscano (80-100%), Malvasia del Chianti (up to 8%), as well as from other permitted white varieties (up to 20%). The amber-coloured Vin Santo is made from dried grapes of the same varieties, it is produced in Secco (17% vol) and Amabile (16% vol) styles, and is matured in barrels for three years.
