Latium

DOC for white wine in the Latium region in Italy. The zone includes the hills and mountains north of Rome between the Via Flaminia and the river Tiber, including the communes of Capena, Castelnuovo di Porto, Fiano Romano and Morlupo in the province of Roma. The Roman politician Cicero (106-43 BC) was one of the first to praise the verdant vineyards around Capena. The wine is produced in Secco and Amabile versions, and is a blend made from Trebbiano Toscano and/or Trebbiano Giallo and/or Trebbiano Romagnolo (25-100%), Malvasia del Lazio and/or Malvasia Toscano and/or Malvasia di Candia (up to 55%), as well as from Bellone and/or Bombino (up to 20%). If the wine has a minimum alcohol content of 12% vol, the additional designation Superiore may appear on the label.
