DOC for red, rosé and white wines in the wine-growing region of Tuscany in Italy. The zone includes two communes, Carmignano and Poggio a Caiano in the province of Prato, it is identical with that for DOCG Carmignano. There are four DOC designations. The red wine Barco Reale di Carmignano is a blend made from Sangiovese (50-90%), Cabernet Franc and/or Cabernet Sauvignon (10-20%), Canaiolo Nero (up to 10%), any mix of the white varieties Trebbiano Toscano, Malvasia and Canaiolo Bianco (max. 10%), as well as optionally from other permitted red varieties (up to 10%). The Rosato di Carmigano is subject to the same conditions. White Vin Santo di Carmignano is made from Trebbiano Toscano and/or Malvasia Bianca Lunga (75-100%) as well as optionally from other permitted white varieties (up to 25%) in both Secco and Amabile versions. The rosé-coloured Vin Santo di Carmignano Occhio di Pernice is made from Sangiovese (50-100%), as well as optionally from other permitted red and white varieties (up to 50%). Both have an alcohol content of 16% vol, and are matured in barrel for three years; if matured for four years they may be called Riserva.
