DOC for dry red wine located in the Piemont region in Italy. This is a large zone with a total vineyard area of 2.300 hectares in the Langhe hills of Alba, and includes 54 communes in the province of Cuneo. The wines are 100% varietal wines made from Barbera grapes. If the wine has a minimum alcohol content of 12,5% vol, and has been matured for a year, it may be called Superiore.
