Latium

DOC for dry red wines in the region of Latium in Italy. The zone includes the town of Atina, from whence the name, as well as an additional nine communes in the province of Frosinone. Rosso is made from Cabernet Sauvignon (50-70%), Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah (each 10-30%), as well as possibly from other permitted red varieties (maximum 15%). If the wine has an alcohol content of at least 12,5% vol, and is matured for two years, it may be called Riserva. Red Cabernet must be made from a minimum of 85% Cabernet Franc and/or Cabernet Sauvignon, the remaining 15% can be of other permitted red varieties.
