DOC for sweet red wine in the Latium region in Italy. The zone includes the communes of Gradoli, Grotte di Castro, Latera (partly) and San Lorenzo Nuovo in the province of Viterbo. The vineyards are located on volcanic slopes on the north-west shores of lake Bolsena. The red wine is bright red and spicy, and is a varietal wine made from the Aleatico grape. Fortified versions are Liquoroso (matured for 6 months) and Liquroso Riserva (matured for 2 years) must have a minimum level ofalcohol of 17,5 % vol.
