DOC for red and rosé wine in the Piemont region in Italy. The zone was only created in 1999, and includes the town of Albugnano, from which it takes its name, as well as Castelnuovo Don Bosco, Passerano Marmorito and Pino d´Asti in the Torino province. Rosso and Rosato are made from the Chiavennasca = Nebbiolo grape (85-100%), as well as from Barbera and/or Bonarda and/or Freisa (up to 15%), they are available in Secco or Abboccato styles. If matured for a year, and if it has a minimum alcohol level of 11,5% vol., the Rosso may be called Superiore.
