Appellation on the slopes of Mount Ossa, at the foot of Mount Olympos in the wine-growing region of Thessalia in Greece. The vineyard area totals around 445 hectares, the soils are rich in limestone. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 400 to 700 metres above sea level, close to the communes of Ambelákia, Kraniá, Piryetós and Rapsani, from which the name is taken. The dry red OPAP wine is made from mainly Xynomavro, with smaller portions of Krassato and Stavroto, it is usually matured in oak. The best-known producers are Katsaros and Tsantali.
