Wine-growing region in the region of Thessalia in Greece, declared as an appellation (OPAP) in 1994. The vineyard area totals around 260 hectares, located at an altitude of 250 to 600 metres above seelevel. The zone includes the commune of Messenikola, from which the name is taken, as well as Morphovoumio and Moskato. The dry red wine is a blend of Mavro Messenikola (70%), as well as of Carignan and Syrah (30%).
