Large estate and merchant house with headquarters in Athens in the province of Attika in central Greece. The logo of the „Domaine Hatzimichalis“ is a turkey. The vineyard area totals around 180 hectares, and the vineyards are located in the Atalante valley close to Mount Parnassos on the bay of Eubois. International grape varieties planted include Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, Chardonnay, Grenache, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah, as well as the indigenous varieties Limnio, Robola, Roditis, Savatiano and Xynomavro. The owner, Dimitris Hatzimichalis, launched the first Cabernet Sauvignon in 1982. According to his own research, he is convinced that this variety is descended from old Greek variety Kapnias (“smoked”), which is mentioned by philosopher Aristotele (384-322 BC) The deep red country wine called „Kapnias“ is matured in barriques for 20 months, and has a maturation potential of up to ten years.
