This estate, with its symbolic name, is located in the small town of Flörsheim-Dalsheim in the Rheinhessen wine-growing region in Germany. The origins go back as far as 1789, when Johann Leonhard Keller, who had emigrated from Switzerland, settled in Dalsheim, and began farming as well as wine-growing. He acquired a 4-hectare section of the historic Hubacker vineyard site from the church. This is still owned by the Keller family today, 95% of the area is planted with Riesling. The estate is run by Klaus Keller and his son Klaus-Peter. The vineyard area totals 12,5 hectares, with holdings in the following vineyard sites: Bürgel and Hubacker (Dalsheim), Silberberg (Monsheim), as well as Kirchspiel and Morstein (Westhiofen). Grape varieties planted are Riesling (5,5 ha), Pinot Blanc (1 ha), Pinot Gris (1 ha), Silvaner (1 ha), Pinot Noir (1 ha), Rieslaner, Huxelrebe, Dornfelder and several others. High quality standards are rigorously applied, both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Since the 2000 vintage, Großes Gewächs (Grand Cru) wines are produced from the two top vineyard sites, Hubacker and Bürgel. The estate is a member of the
VDP (Verband deutscher Prädikats- und Qualitäts-Weingüter) association.
