MittelrheinThe estate is located in the village of Leutesdorf in the Mittelrhein wine-growing region in Germany. For many years, Herrmann Ockenfels ran the estate with ist 1,3 hectares of vineyards as a sideline, in addition to his butchery. In 1994, he gave up his shop, and concentrated on wine production full-time. Today his daughter Beate runs the estate. The vineyard area now totals 3,5 hectares, with holdings in the steep sloping Forstberg, Gartenlay and Rosenberg sites in Leutesdorf. The area is planted with Riesling (1,9 ha), Pinot Blanc, Regent, Pinot Noir, Kerner, Müller-Thurgau, Dornfelder and Blauer Portugieser. In addition, bottle-fermented Riesling sparkling wine, as well as grappa-style spirits, including a barrel-matured variant made from Riesling, are also produced.
