The estate is located in the commune of Oberspay in the Mittelrhein wine-growing region in Germany. This was previously a mixed farming operation, Adolf Weingart converted it to exclusively a viticultural operation in the second half of the 20th century, laying the foundation for the current high level of quality. The estate has been run by Florian Weingart since 1996. His parents Adolf and Helga Weingart now run a guest house with a view of the Rhine river. The vineyard area totals 11 hectares, with holdings in the top-rated Bopparder Hamm sites of Engelstein, Feuerlay and Ohlenberg, as well as Fürstenberg in the commune of Oberdiebach. The latter commune has a suburb called Schloss Fürstenberg, and the wines are therefore marketed under the designation "Schloss Fürstenberg. The area is planted mainly with Riesling (10,3 ha), plus a little Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. When vineyards are replanted, narrow distances between rows and high density of vines are the order of the day, forcing the vines to grow deep roots. The wines are mainly fermented using natural yeasts, and are matured in stainless steel tanks until they are bottled. The wines remain on the lees in tank until the end of February, they are then racked for the first time, the wines are kept on the lees until they are bottled in mid-April. Batonage is carried out on a weekly basis for the Pinot Gris, whereas Riesling is either not subjected to batonage at all, or to a light stirring only.
