| The estate is located in the commune of Kleinbottwar (Württembergisch Unterland district) n the Württemberg wine-growing region in Germany. The estate was founded by Reinhard Schäfer in 1981, he learnt winemaking at the renowned Aldinger estate in Fellbach. The vineyard area totals five hectares, mainly in the Götzenberg (Kleinbottwar) site. 70% oft he area is planted with the following red varieties: Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Trollinger, Lemberger, Dornfelder, Cabernet Dorsa, Samtrot and Merlot, the remaining 30% is planted with the following white varieties: Riesling, Pinot Gris, Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Gewürztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc. The white wines are mostly matured in stainless steel, the red wines are fermented on the skins in classical style and then matured in either 600-litre oak barrels or in barriques. When vintage conditions permit, Eiswein is also produced. In addition, rosé wines, bottle-fermented sparkling wines and spirits (fruit-based, grappa-style) are also produced.
