  Terrassenmosel

Popular term used for the north-eastern section of the Burg Cochem district (formerly known as Zell) in the Mosel wine-growing region in Germany. The name reflects the fact that there are many extremely steep slopes with terraced vineyards, which are among the steepest in the world. The term was coined by Reinhard Löwenstein of the Heymann-Löwenstein estate.
