Regional appellation in the wine-growing region of Savoie in France. The vineyard area totals more than 1.700 hectares, divided up into many sections. The following communes are classified as Cru sites, and are permitted to add their name on the label, this is in some cases limited to specific types of wine: Abymes, Apremont, Arbin, Ayze, Bergeron, Charpignat, Chautagne, Chignin, Chignin-Bergeron, Cruet, Jongieux, Marignan, Marin, Montmélian, Ripaille, S-Jean de la Porte, St-Jeoire Prieuré and Ste-Marie d´Alloix. The region produces a wide range of both varietal wines and blends made from a wide range of varieties. The following varieties are permitted for white wine: Aligoté, Roussette, Jacquère, Chardonnay and Mondeuse Blanche, in the départements of Ain and Haute-Savoie Chasselas is additionally permitted, in the département of Haute-Savoie the varieties Gringet and Roussette d´Ayze are also permitted, and in the department of Isère Marsanne and Verdesse are also permitted. The following varieties are permitted for red and rosé wines: Gamay, Mondeuse, Pinot Noir and Persan, in the department of Savoie Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon are also permitted, in the department of Isère Etraire de la Dui, Serène and Joubertin are also permitted, as well as a maximum total of up to 20% of Aligotè, Roussette, Jacquère, Chardonnay, Mondeuse Blanceh, Chasselas, Gringet, Roussette, Marsanne and Verdesse. The AC Vin de Savoie Mousseux applies to bottle-fermented white sparkling wines, the AC Vin de Savoie Pétillant applies to white perlé wines. The white wines mentioned above are permitted for the production of these, with slight variations depending on the département. Well-known producers in the entire region include Dominique Allion, Domaine de l´Idylle, Louis Magnin, Michel Menetrey, Le Cellier du Palais, La Cave du Prieurè, André et Michel Quénard, Domaine Jean-Pierre et Jean-François Quénard, Domaine Raymond Quénard, Charles Trosset, Domaine Viallet and Vigneron Savoyard.
