This general appellation applies to the entire area of the island of Corsica, off the French coast. The vineyard area totals around 2.000 hectares. The white wine is a blend of a minimum of 75% of Vermentino and a maximum of 25% of Ugni Blanc. The red wine and rosé contain a minimum of 50% of Nielluccio, Sciacarello and Grenache Noir, as well as of Cinsaut, Mourvèdre, Barbarossa and Syrah, plus a mximum of 20% of Carignan and Vermentino. Five sub-regions are permitted to add their names on the label, all use the same mix of varieties. They are Vin de Corse Calvi (north of Ajaccio), Vin de Corse Coteaux du Cap Corse (northern peninsula), Vin de Corse Figari (between Sartène and Porto Vecchio), Vin de Corse Porto Vecchio (port city in the southeast, founded in 383 BC) and Vin de Corse Sartène (south of Ajaccio). Important producers include Domaine de Canella, Domaine Culombu, Domaine Filippi, Domaine Gentile, Clos Landry, Domaine Maestracci, Clos Nicrosi, Domaine de Piana, Poggio d´Oro, Clos Reginu and Domaine de Tizziano.
