Bordeaux

One of four communes (apart from Montagne, Lussac and Puisseguin) located outside the appellation Saint-Émilion (Bordeaux) in France, immediately to the north of the Barbanne river. These four appellations are permitted to add their name on the label, in this case Saint-Georges-Saint-Émilion. In addition, wine from Saint-Georges may also use the designation Montagne-Saint-Émilion as an alternative. The red wines are blends made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and are similar to the wines of Saint-Émilion. The best-known estates include Château Belair-Montaiguillon, Château Maquin-St-Georges, Château St-Georges and Château Tour du Pas St-Georges.
