Bordeaux

Small appellation, located in the extreme south of the large Entre-Deux-Mers region, an enclave within the AC Premières Côtes de Bordeaux in France. The vineyard area totals 460 hectares, located on the right bank of the Garonne, on limestone-rich soils with patches of gravel. The appellation applies to sweet white wines made from botrytised Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle grapes. Red wines produced here are marketed as basic AC Bordeaux. Well-known producers include Château Bel Air, Château du Mont, Château La Grave, Château La Rame and Château Lousteau-Vieil. The Loupiac appellation borders on Sainte-Croix-du-Mont in the north, and produces very similar wines.
