Loire

Small appellation in the Loire wine-growing region in central France, close to the AC Reuilly. The vineyards have a total area of 160 hectares, and are located on extremely limestone-rich soils in 7 communes in the two départements of Indre and Cher, along the Cher river, a tributary of the Loire. Mainly white wine is produced here, a straight varietal made from Sauvignon Blanc. The red wine is made from Pinot Noir, (with the permitted addition of Pinot Gris, which is practically never used), the rosé is made from Pinot Noir or Pinot Gris. Well-known producers include Domaine Henri Beurdin, Pascal Desroches, Claude Lafond, Jean-Michel Sorbe and Jacques Vincent.
