Corsica

Appellation located in the extreme north of the island of Corsica off the coast of France. It is named after Cap Corse. It overlaps partly with the AC Patrimonio. The zone includes 17 communes, the vineyard area totals 90 hectares, the soils are limestone and slate. The AC applies to sweet fortified vin doux naturel. The wine was already famous in the 16th century, but it was only classified as AC in 1993. It is a varietal wine produced exclusively from Muscat à Petits Grains, it must have a minimum residual sugar level of 95 g/l. Well-known producers include Domaine Aliso-Rossi, Domaine de Catarelli, Domaine Gentile, Domaine Giudicelli, Clos Marfisi, Clos Nicrosi, Domaine Pieretti and Domaine San Quilicio.
