Muscat de Beaumes-de-Venise AOC

Appellation named after the commune of Beaumes-de-Venise in the département Vaucluse in the southern section of the Rhône wine-growing region in France. Apart from Rasteau it is one of the two areas in the region producing the sweet fortified dessert wine vin doux naturel. It is made in white and rosé versions from Muscat Blanc à Petit Grains and Muscat Rosé à Petit Grains. The wine must have a minimum alcohol content of 15% vol and residual sugar of 110 g/l. Well-known producers include the Vignerons de Beaumes-de-Venise co-operative (90% of production), Domaine de Durban, Domaine de la Mordorée and Domaine du Vieux Pigeonnier. The other wines are produced under the AC Côtes du Rhône-Villages, stating the name of the commune, Beaumes-de-Venise.
