Appellation named after the commune of the same name, located in the Côte de Beaune on the Côte d´Or in Burgundy in France. The total vineyard area is 180 hectares. It was created in 1989, and came about through the amalgamation of the previously independent AC´s Cheilly-lès-Maranges, Dezize-lès-Maranges and Sampigny-lès-Maranges. These three villages share the Les Maranges vineyard, with its Premiers Crus Clos de la Boutière, Clos de la Fussière, Clos des Loyères, Clos des Rois, Clos Roussots, Croix Moines and Fussière. The wines produced are almost exclusively red, made from Pinot Noir, with the permitted addition of Pinot Gris and Pinot Liébault. The wines may also be marketed as Côte de Beaune or Côte de Beaune-Villages.
