One of four communes, besides Montagne, Puisseguin and Saint-Georges, located outside the appellation Saint-Émilion (Bordeaux), immediately north of the Barbanne river in France. These four communes may add their name to that of the appellation on the label, in this case Lussac-Saint-Émilion. The red wines are blends made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and are similar to the wines from Saint-Émilion. The best-known estates include Château Barbe-Blanche, Château Bel-Air, Château de Bellevue, Château de la Grenière, Château de Lussac, Château du Lyonnat and Château Mayne-Blanc.
