Languedoc

The appellation is named after the city of the same name, and is located in the wine-growing region of Languedoc in France. Limoux is the sparkling wine centre of the region, but a still white wine is also produced here. Until 1993 this was a varietal wine made from Mauzac, which is known here as Blanquette. Since then it only needs to contain 15% of Mauzac, and may also contain Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc. Well-known producers include Domaine de l´Aigle, Domaine de Fourn and Domaine de Martinolles. The sparkling wines are produced under the AC´s Blanquette de Limoux and Crémant de Limoux.
