Loire

The appellation is an enclave in the north of the Coteaux du Loir area, north of Touraine in the Loire wine-growing region in France. The area is around four kilometres long and only a few hundred metres wide, it is the best section, resp. the Cru vineyard site of the Coteaux du Loir district. The vineyard area totals around 70 hectares, located on a flintstone soil. The white wine has a long maturation potential, is made from Chenin Blanc (Pineau de la Loire) and is available in various styles, from dry to sweet. Well-known producers include Benedicte de Rycke, Chaussard, Domaine de la Charrière, Gigou, Nicolas and Robinot.
