Roussillon

The appellation is located in the Roussillon region in southern France, and includes around 100 communes. It is used for sweet fortified vin doux naturel, however it is rarely used, and indeed tends to be used mainly for declassified Rivesaltes. In other words, one would expect to find VDN’s of lesser quality under this designation. The wine is a blend produced from Muscat Blanc, Muscat d´Alexandrie, Grenache Noir, Grenache Blanc, Grenache Gris, Macabéo, Tourbat and a maximum of 10% of Carignan, Cinsaut, Syrah and Listan. There is also a version known as Grand Roussillon Rancio (see Rancio).
