Burgundy

This communal appellation is located in the Côte de Nuits section of the Côte d´Or in Burgundy in France. It includes parts of the communes of Fixin and Brochon. Fixin was at one stage the summer residence of the dukes of Burgundy. The following are the vineyard sites classified as Premier Cru sites: Arvelets, Chapitre, Hervelets, Napoléon (previously called Cheusots), Meix-Bas, Perrière (this monopole site owned by Philippe Joliet is considered to be the best) and Queue de Hareng. The wines produced are almost exclusively red, they are made from Pinot Noir, with the permitted addition of small portions of Pinot Gris and Pinot Liébault.
