  Condrieu AOC

This appellation is in the northern section of the Rhône in France, and is classified as a Cru site. The name translates as ”bend in the river”. The vineyard area totals around 100 hectares, spread over seven communes along a stretch of 20 kilometres on the right bank of the Rhône river, in the three départements of Ardèche, Loire and Rhône. The white wine has a long maturation potential, and is a pure varietal made from Viognier, it is similar to the wine of Château-Grillet. Part of the production is still bottled in the tall yellow bottles known as „Flûte de Condrieu”. Novelist Marie-Henri Stendhal (1783-1842) was a well-known lover of these wines. Well-known producers include Domaine du Chene, Clusel-Roch, Yves Cuilleron, Delas, Pierre Dumazet, Gangloff, Guigal, Jaboulet-Aîné, André Perret, Robert Niéro, Philippe Pichon, Domaine René Rostaing, Georges Vernay and Verzier.
